There is not much that hasn’t been said about social media marketing over the last ten or so months. A thought sinks in that perhaps the subject is even being overexploited… Nevertheless, the popularity of this topic is hardly surprising. The ongoing development of networks connecting millions of people is a revival of the founding concept of the internet itself. Moreover, the global expansion of social sites opened vast virgin territories for the business opportunities. Today, the notion of social site marketing has become something of a cliché and many associate it with Facebook almost automatically. Is this mental link a justified one? Sort of. It’s high time for us to throw some limelight on this particular knot of the global web.

The first half of April 2010 was a special time for Poland and for many other countries. The crash of a government plane near Smolensk, in which the nation lost its President, his wife and 94 Members of Parliament, along with top military commanders and representatives of religious communities and social organisations, unleashed a storm of information. A storm which swept across nearly all media. Almost instantaneously repercussions of this tragic event also hit the internet.

Back in the times when most of us were only just beginning the computer adventure, a 15-inch curvy, energy-gorging monitor that gave out more heat than a radiator was nothing of a disgrace. Today, the light, energy saving LCD/LED panels seem as natural as the fact that their sizes are increasing. All in all, technological progress is a race in which we all participate – whether we like it or not. It is crucial, however, to be aware of the way we are taking. The relevant question now is whether the computer screen development is determined by real client needs or by mere fads. We asked this question to ourselves and checked what monitors are now used by Europeans.
